Question:

A train runs at a speed of 90 kmph and crosses a 400 m  long platform in 30 seconds. What is the length of the train.

Type:

   Type 2 problem

Summary:

    Speed of the Train = 90 kmph  (=> 90*1000 m)

    length of the platform = 400 m

    Time taken to cross = 30 sec

    length of the Train = ?

Formula:

    90 * 1,000 = 3600

                      30

     90,000 * 30  =  3600 * x

     900*30 = 36*

     x = 900*30

              36

     x = 750 m (total length)

     But here (type-2) length = Length of Train + Length of Platform

     750 m = Length of the Train + 400 m

     Length of the Train = 750 m - 400 m

Answer: Length of the Train = 350 m
